About Me
I am a mixed-media artist based in North Devon, UK working primarily in figurative collage, exploring issues that surround the female body.
My practice is auto-theoretical, exploring ways in which feminist theory and my lived experience combine to gain knowledge and understanding.
I have also developed a socially engaged practise working with vulnerable or under-represented groups, often women, to research into and respond to subjects such as ageing, grief and the gender pain gap.
Collage is a powerful tool in exploring how our memories, experiences and associations shape us. Both the layering of collage and the messiness of the process serve as analogies for how our identities are shaped and changed throughout our lives.
Committing this exploration in collage form helps to contain previously held ideas and allows insight and space to grow in new ways.
